need some info/ tips

I live in southern colorado and am wanting to plan a small food plot. Maybe 1/4 acre. We have some really sandy soil here. What should i add to the soil? We built a drag behind ripper and rake for our 4 wheeler and the ripper digs into the soil about 2-3 inches and does great. We use the rake to rake up all the weeds and stuff that the ripper has torn loose.
We want to plant Alfalfa and Clover.

Any info on when to plan, what to add to the soil and how to care for it would be great. Water is readily available.

I heard something about adding Lime to the soil. How many lbs for a 1/4 acre?

to determine what the soil needs you really need to do a ph test to be sure

Land that hasn't been limed before would run about 800 to 1000 pounds for a 1/4 acre area. Testing is the only way to know for sure.
