TOO LATE.......?

ALRIGHT KIDS,
I PUT MY HALF ACRE OF BUCKWHEAT IN ON 7/20. TOOK A WHILE, BUT HAVE GOTTEN SOME DECENT RAIN. BETWEEN A SLOW START, AND THE DEER NIPPING THE PLANTS OFF, I'M LEFT WITH A PRETTY SAD LOOKING DIRT FIELD.
QUESTION, IF I GET SOMETHING BACK INTO THE GROUND BY 9/10/07, WILL IT COME ENOUGH TO MAKE AN OKAY FOODPLOT FOR THIS YEAR???

I LIVE IN WESTERN NY, AND I'M THINKING ABOUT A CLOVER/TURNIP MIX.

ANYONE...........

Just broad cast some wheat over your plot . Nows the time to plant wheat and deer love it all winter. Next year your field will have fewer weeds and you will have a great spring turkey hunting spot.

RE: TOO LATE.......?

I agree - Wheat or Rye are really your only options at this point.

Its too late for turnips & cloverfor this fall.

You can overseed the Rye or Wheat with clover and roll it - and maybe have a decent clover plot there by next fall assuming the soil is ok.
