What fertilizer?
My friend and I planted 6 food plots in 4 locations on the 600 acres that we bowhunt for whitetails. We put in No Plow and Wintergreens. The first 4 plots were put in at the end of June, so I understand that this would be the time to fertilize.
What would be the best fertilizer to use? Also, is there one that will increase the PH of the soil? Any/all advice is appreciated. StealthyOne |
RE: What fertilizer?
without a soil test it would be hard to say what you need. but adding some 12-12-12 or 10-10-10 couldn't hurt. say maybe 250lbs of it per acre. of course adding fertilizer won't do much good unless your pH is in line. it wouldn't hurt to add 1 ton of CaCO3 per acre either.

RE: What fertilizer?
Can you add lime to a growing plot or will it burn/kill the plants?

RE: What fertilizer?
you can add lime with no problem. it takes several months to work though. $7/ton is what it costs around here.

RE: What fertilizer?
So, could I put some fertilizer and lime on my plots simultaneously? The reason I ask is that they are 2.5 + hour drive away and deep in the bush.
