winter/shooter plot suggestion for NY
 
I am looking to plant my shooter plots- any suggestions? western NY cna be anywhere fr0m 0 to 70 between October and January.

I would also like to know what food plots to plantsince nebraska temps are about the same.

if it helps at all: i have a few brand mixes (shot plot and quaker boy +15)...i am looking at one half acre teo completely spearate 1/4 plots...

I think alot of others will agree - its Really hard to beat Cereal Rye for a fall planting. It stays green all winter, has a HUGE root system that helps rebuild soils. It inhibits weed growth, even when turn under in the spring for another planting (like maybe corn or soybeans). Its Cheap -

And..........

Deer really like it for the Carbs in the Fall and winter months. Especially when its not a really common fall planting by farmers in your area.

Others might have the same praise for Winter Wheat or Buck Forage Oats - they are all similar.

Heres a couple pictures of one of ours from 2004 - Sorry for the old pics - we haven't had one in while - but maybe this fall.
