Can I bale a food plot for hay???
I have an exceptional stand on top of a hill, which my buddy plants clovers and alphalfa's for hay......... The field is steadily becoming weaker and weaker and there are a lot of oats coming up in it.... I want to plant half of the field in Alfa-Rack Plus (Whitetail Institute), which has white clover, alphalfa, and chicory in it. If I proceed to plant it will he be able to cut and bale it? How will chicory affect the blend? (Total acreage 3 acres)
Your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! |
RE: Can I bale a food plot for hay???
It looks like you can do it but if the chickory is too mature the cows won't eat it.

From the studies from orr ag center here at in Pike county, the cattle will just snub the chicory all together. I don't know if that was in hay or just pasture test. I imagine the later.
