Question
I'm not sure if this was the correct place to post this so if it isn't I apologize. I brought twelve tomato plants home from work and I got to thinking about possibly planting some in the woods behind my house. My mom wants a couple but I was going to plant the rest back there. I've seen deer, rabbits, coons, and possums back there so I figured I'd plant them out there to help the critters out some. Possibly take a few that aren't gobbled up. I was just concerned about the whole plant being eaten before it really starts to grow. Is this a good or idea or just a plain dumb one? Thanks and good huntin'

RE: Question
I don't think tomatoes would grow well in the woods to begin with. Too much shade. On the other hand, I don't think there's many animals that eat the plants. They are somewhat toxic. They are inthe nightshade family. If you want tomatoes, plant them in the sun. If you want deer food, plant something else.

RE: Question
The insects would probably take most of the plants before the wildlife or you got a chance at the tomatoes.
