Powdered lime spreader

Anyone had experience with the 3 pt hitch spreader to spread lime? The one that looks like a funnel with deep sides and holds about lbs. I think they also make one to pull behind an ATV. I can buy lime for $18 ton and have it loaded in my pickup and trailer if these units work. My seed & fertilizer spreader for my ATV plugs up with powdered lime and hold under lbs

I've used one before to spread a few tons of lime. It was mounted on a tractor, not an ATV. Depending on the fineness of your lime there is a fair amount of dust. Other than that it worked well. Make sure that you havea mixer wheel installed or the lime will hang up.

Thanks, I have a tractor so I think I will get the 3 pt one. It will save me money in lime over the long run.

For granulated limestone you need a drop spreader, in a spinner spreader it will make a funnel right thru the middle of the lime and hang in the spinner spreader,, A spinner will work with pelletized lime but not hydrated or ground burnt......
