Basic Steps to making a food plot

I've never tried to make a food plot before and I have a lease in North Texas that I would like to try to make one. What are the basic steps that I need to take and what shouldI plant and if I wouldn't to could I go ahead and try to plant something now?

1st thing find out where we want, hopefully away from the road. Then The most important next step is to get a soil test @$10.

You'll probably have to put down some lime and let it take effect.

1) pick location, detrmine what to seed (what type of plot)
2) clear area (if needed)
3) soil test
4) apply lime (if needed) prior to planting
5) seed & apply fertilizer
6) manage weeds and mow when necessary

pretty simple, huh. it is much harder than it sounds.
