when is too late??

When is too late to plant pheasant cover for this upcoming year? I am wanting to plant some sorghum. When is the lastest I can plant it so that way its ready to go for the season. Also I want to plant a spot of sunflowers for dove season (sept. 1st). When is the latest time to plant them?

I have always been told to start on mothers day and end in may.

I plant WGF sorghum 95 days before I want to hunt it (for deer, no pheasants).

I plant peredovik sunflowers btw 5 and 8 May for our dove opener on 1 Sept. I want to bushhog some rows so the dove are using the fields for a few weeks before the season opens (legal here to bushhog the sunflower rows as part of normal agricultural practices).
