to drill or not to drill
For a number of reasons I have removed part of my farm from production. Some is already overgrown, some has just been planted with loblollies. I have left 1 acre open and am planning on planting it in a food plot.
I have not gotten my soil tests back but my farm usually runs 6 to 6.2 as an average on ph. I was planning to lime, disk, broadcast plant buckwheat, disk, and cultipack this spring. Then yesterday I was at the equipment shed and my eyes rested upon the no-till drill and I thought; do I really need to disk in the lime? I could just spray gly., lime and drill the buckwheat. Any thoughts would be welcome. |
RE: to drill or not to drill
I think the no-till would work great if the ph is ok. Make sure you don't plant too deep though. (I did last year on one of my spring plots.)
