RE: Deer and Japanesse Honeysuckle
Behind my house I have 3 fences about 200 feet long that are solid honeysuckle. There is a browse line on each side of all of them that
you wouldn't believe. They love the stuff. |
RE: Deer and Japanesse Honeysuckle
I fertilize and lime the honeysuckle in my hedgerows. Deer love it, and around here it's an important winterbrowse. If you have honeysuckle, nuture it. The honeysuckle thickets are great habitat for birds, bunnies and other wildlife. If you don't have honeysuckle, don't plant it (Japanese honeysuckle that is)- it's an aggressive alien plant. I spend a lot of time removing it from my persimmons, pears, crabapples, etc... wife hates it when itcreeps into her flower beds.
