Time to Lime.

Right? Lime in the winter for spring planting and lime in the spring for fall planting.

For those that remember my clover patch. Should I lime it again and, will it come back well?

Ya'll were such great help in the spring, now I need asst going into my next season.

Rob,
Your best option is to do a soil test. Keep in mind that you are in a pasture situation, with nutrients ( particularly P & K) being removed by the grazing animals. And, of course adding chemical fertilizers to replace these nutrients reduces the Ph of the soil. So without a soil test for fertility as well as Ph, you are shooting in the dark.

i've heard a rule of thumb. for every pound of fertilizer you apply you need to apply 3 lbs of lime to offset the ph reduction done by the fertilizer.

key's right on about the soil test. it's cheap and will save you money and time. no sense in adding P and K if it's not needed.

Soil test. It's the cheapest way to make sure that you add the correct amounts of nutrients and lime. You may also need some P and K, but it should come back thicker than last year based on your pictures. This year you'll need to cut it to keep the grasses from invading.

This is PA you will need lime.the pros say it takes six months for lime to work,so I would guess if you can get on your plot now would be a good time.

We are in the process of liming 2200 acres, we lime a third each year.....and we always put on a little over a ton to the acre....
