Roundup Ready

What does it mean when corn or beans are "Roundup Ready". Does this mean that right after spraying a field with roundup, the seed can be planted? Can the growing crops be sprayed with roundup as they are coming in and they wont be harmed? I had a big problem with weeds taking over my corn plot last year, and want to be ready this year. Thanks.

Roundup ready crops can be planted and after they come up can be sprayed with roundup to kill the weeds competing with your crops for sunlight & fertilizer.
In some cases spraying before planting gives your seed crop a head start.

what bawanajim said. it allows the use after the crop comes up if mixed properly.

you can spray roundup on a field and most any crop can be immediately planted. you can also plant most any crop and immediately spray too.

if you have broadleafs in your corn try 2,4d.
if you have alot of grasses try atrazine.

Round up from Home Depot is probably not the concentrated version you want.

You want at least 41% Glyphosate - there are several types - here is one:

Roundup 41% Concentrate, 2.5 Gal

Price Range:

You can search Google and get alot of info on Roundup and Roundup ready crops.

Round Up Ready plantings are awesome! RR Soybeans are without a doubt, one of the most effective plantings I have ever used and they have only made me wish that I could get a LOT more seeds available in this form! It's sooooo nice to be able to allow your seedlings to grow a bit and then dose your plot with Round-Up to kill off ALL competition from weeds and grasses.

I have been looking at BioMaxx for a spring planting. It has roundup ready corn and beans. This would be a great late season plot for me. Has anyone had any experience with it. My first attempt at corn last year was a complete failure due to the weeks taking over the plot.

BoiMaxx has caught my attention also. Does anyone have any experience with it? Or is it just hitting the market?
