Default chufa question

How well will chufa take in upstate New York if it will take at all. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Does it have to be planted every year or is it a perrenial ?Anyone have any luck with it ?

I don't believe you would have to much luck with it in NY, growing season is to short. If you could get it to work , it would be an annual this far north.

Go to www.chufa.com and send John Wilkerson an e-mail. He is a local guy, but he ships chufa seeds all over the place and he should be able to answer any questions about them you would have, good guy too.

I talked to John today and he said you probably wouldn't have any luck with chufas that far north.

There might be some hardy varieties:

We have similar sedges growing in Ontario. I'd like too try the real thing too.
