I have seen it proved in my food plots...typically if the brassicas are planted in the spring then they will mature and sweeten early hunting season, but if they are planted in the fall they won't sweeten until a few hard frosts.

I planted two small patches of brassicas in the spring and the deer didn't eat them until late August/early September at which time they cleaned them out. It didn't take a frost for the deer to start eating them but this was the time of year when other forages were showing the effects of a dry summer.

I planted more in mid August and early September and they started eating them a little more than a month later.

I suspect that when I finally get back there this weekend they will be picked pretty clean.

I have also planted three different brands and they haven't shown any noticeable preference.
