Persimmon Trees??

Hey, anyone know if Persimmon trees can grow well enough in the north country? I live in west-central WI. If so, any contacts for obtaining some seedlings?

Thanks!

I'm growing them near Niagara Falls (lat. 43). A grafted variety called "Early Golden" ripens every year about the end of September. Some of my seedling trees ripen most years others only after very hot summers. They have never shown winter damage. It would probably depend on how close you are to a large lakeand the heat units in your area (I'm 3300). They need a lot of heat and a long growing season (180 days) to mature fully on the tree before frost.

I have a lot of persimmon trees on my place here in S. Ohio. I also mark the female trees because male does not produce fruit. When the fruit is ripe, I shake the tree and the next day all that fell to the ground are gone. This fall I'm going to set my stealth cam and see what is stealing my persimmon.
