germination

RE: germination
were the showers the day after you planted, or within the last 7 days? if the rain has only been in the last 7 or 8 days you just need to be patient.

RE: germination
Could be that you planted or covered it too deep. Most seeds of that size should be covered by about 1/4" of soil. I used a no-till seed drill to plant clover, brassicas, and alfalfa, and we got a good rain just after planting, and again within a couple of days. After a week my neighbor said it was starting to sprout pretty thick.

RE: germination
sand, the first shower was two days after the planting. The other showers came a few days after that.
GRIGG,we till and then fertilize and seed.No covering the seed.We had good results the previous years with this method of seed to soil contact.Am I being impatient?Does it sometimes take longer then two weeks for germination? |
RE: germination
Only time will tell.

RE: germination
I know 3 weeks ago, a friend planted some clover and 5 days later we saw germination, and in two weeks it's coming in even better. I planted WTI seeds back in June, 2 weeks later I had good germination, but again warmer temps then.
I just planted a mixture of C/C/B on 8/18 and I'm heading back to camp on 8/31 Thursday, hopfully if I did everything correctly, I'll see some good germination. As they say, time will tell. Keep us posted. |
