This one's made from a 16 gallon drum, cut out is turned around and reinstalled inside using rivets. keeps feed from spilling out. I havn't had problems with feed getting wet either.

this one's made from pvc drain pipe, but in the bottom, drill some holes to allow water to drain out, feed does get damp on this one, but works great. holds about 1/3 bag of feed, the first feeder holds 2 bags of feed.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd bring it back to life.

PVC feeders are simple to build last forever.

Every animal in the woods will use them -including deer.

Hope it helps someone.

Since we are back from the dead, Here is mine. Barrel, legs, funnel, solar panel, timer/spinner, rain proof spring loaded cap. Holds about 7 bags of corn and lasts 6 months.

Default I don't think those homemade feeders

would go good with those $1500 trail cams coming into favor these days it seems.

Why how in the world could you show your face and that of the deer with a cheap homemade feeder, while the picture is getting taken by an expensive, ultra secret trail cam.

Why if you put up a big ole cheap feeder, that poacher will easily find the feeder and look for only a second and find the trail camera, er feeder station camera.

And the bigger the feeder, the closer the trail cam is to a road and trail. Fellas don't seem to like to carry those heavy bags of corn too far.

The pvc is the best choice but instead of an elbow just get some pvc pipe and cut holes out at the bottom and tie to a electric fence post...keeps coons out holds 1 bag

Search on craigslist, last year a freind and I found a guy selling the feeder motors only for $15 each we used them to make 5gal feeders. By far the easiest is the PVC type

This is a pig feeder, aka pig toy:

The chain is attached to a cap that is firmly attached to the PVC pipe. This pipe had too many holes, hence the duct tape. The hogs toss the feeder into the air and roll it around until every grain of corn is gone.

I do PVC for my cam in the summer but I buy the test caps and glue them on the bottom without the elbow. Drill a few holes around the bottom and tie it to a tree.

I use a 50 gal barrel and cut 2 3 sided slots 1 inch x 4 inch, leave the bottom of the cut attached and bend down to control flow. The deer just lick the corn out and it flows alittle.Works great been using for years
