RE: Fawn Pic

I got to watch this guy get his pic taken the other day in the soybeans. Likely a 3 1/2 (?), and not the herd bull, so he'll get a pass from me. - fsh

He's more than a shooter to me. - good for you that your program is such that you can pass this buck. He does look young - maybe even 2.5 - but definitely not older than 3.5yrs.

- I would not hold it in the leastagainstguests on my farm to take that buck, so it's only a personal decision.I try to protect the 1.5 and 2.5 yrbucks (novice bowhuntersget a pass for their first deer), with the realization that my farm isfar too small to contain a deer herd...

The 2.5 yr bucks typically have basket racks, and a sleeker look to their bodies - I'd be (pleasantly) surprised to find out that the soybean buck was that young.I knowthat a ~4.5 anda ~5.5 yrbuck (the "herd bull") include the farm in their territories, and I'd rather like to meet up with either one of them [8D].

- here are some pics of nearby local bucks a friend got on his motion cameraat his feeder (I have permission to bowhunt there). If you can let them get some age, they can get respectable, and it's not as hard to pass up on some of the 3 1/2 er's. -fsh

This last pic is from 2004 - I hunted this local buck hard in 2005 and never saw him...probably bumped him once too often.
