The guys around here use Buck Grub and Buck Bran.
Personally, I've never seen any results from either of them.
I just poured the bag out on top of my corn pile.

Any input?

I've used Black Majic and Buck Jam, the persimmon flavor. Didn't do very well with either, although the Buck Jam that I poured on a dead stump, well, the deer ate some of the stump. Was pretty funny. I've had the best luck w/ the following:

1 25# bag of crushed rock salt
1 25# bag of dicalcium phosphate
1 25# bag of trace mineral

Dig up the ground, pour a ratio of 1:1:2, respectively, straight onto the ground you just worked up. Mix it in really well, and let 'er go! They absolutely tear that stuff up!!! Use whatever you want to mix it, it doesn't matter, just use that ratio. I use a big coffee can.

We used to get blocks from a feed store near our property that were pretty close to what you list. Came in 1'x1'x1' blocks and costthe sameasthe Deer Cane blocks 1/6th their size. These were not regular salt blocks, but salt and mineral blocks. Only maybe 40% NaCl by volume. The rest was minerals. The deer would have them knocked all over and kicked to pieces, and every piece gone in a short time. Nice thing about them is that they wouldn't dissolve in the rain too fast, but they did leach enough into the soil to make it pretty active there.

What do you mean "works for you"?

Are you looking to attract deer to the site - or benefit the herd? Are you hunting over the lick - or maybe photographing?

So say the deer "tear up the spot" - whats next?

Why have a big deer lick? Do we really think it helps grow bigger antlers?

Just curious,

FH
