Im gonna put out about 600 lbs of lime soon, and wanna know about peletized vs. granular. Ive heard and read on here than granular is more time released but takes about 6 months to act effectively and than granular powdered lime is quicker acting but maybe not quite as good.

Do you buy lime in 40 lb bags of take a truck to an Agri store and ask for "x" lbs of lime?

The reason I ask is I seen 40 lb bags of lime at Wally World for right under $2/ bag. Thats like $30 for 600 lbs of lime. Seems cheap, but if it aint worth using then I'll pass. The pelletized lime was 3.49/bag.

What about a mix of both?

i buy ag lime from a quarry. it's around $7 a ton. that comes out to 14 cents for 40 pounds.

dang. I may just go there. there is one right next me.

go there and have them dump about half a ton in the back of your pickup. have someone drive around your field while you are in back with a leafblower spreading out the lime. half a ton should take about 30 minutes or less.
