Food Plots and cattle
I am going to put a food plot down in a pasture, which is occasionally visited by cattle. It is about 1 acre and I was going to build a barbed wire fence (2 strands) around it. I was just wondering if this is going to be enough to keep the cattle out. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on the fence. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Thanks |
RE: Food Plots and cattle
I tried a 3 wire fence around one of my plots and the cattle still occasionally got into it. Went with a 1 wire electric and didnt have any more problems.

when i was in the penitentiary, they had a 10' electricrazor barbed fence around the facility. it kept everything out, and everyone in.

RE: Food Plots and cattle
IMO, 2 strands of barbed wire WILL NOT do the job you want. You'll either have them high(they'll go under), to low(they'll jump), or spaced to far apart(they'll go thru. Not to mention that in reality, a cow can easily just bust thru a couple strands easily. Either need atleast 3(prefer 4) strands, or jump to an electric fence. Taz

RE: Food Plots and cattle
I have two solar powered fencers. They work great for food plots in the woods where you have no power.I use one around my honey bees to keep black bears out .Mine our 7years old and still work great.
I put one at my pond last nite to keep a beaver from plugging the over flow pipe. |
