Planting Chicory

I want to plant about an acre of chicory this weekend. I have to limit my trips to the property because of the price of gas. The land is in Northeast Pa. about 150 miles from home. The ground has been limed, but it has not been tilled. I need to get as much accomplished as possible on each trip. My main concern with the chicory plot isweed control. Can I till and plant in the same two or three day period without using roundup? Is it to early toplant chicory this weekend in Northeast Pa.? I also have a plot of rye grass that i planted last fall that I want to disc in and plant with corn. Any suggestions for the timing of this plot?

RE: Planting Chicory

I don't know about your timeline for planting up there but I wouldn't worry to much about the weeds because most are food for deer. Mopst of your chicory will come up even with the weeds. The mix might be successful for you. Good luck
