Please help scoring scouted buck - PICS
I know many of you have started your season, and I'm envious. During the summer I spent a good amount of time long distance scouting with my video camera. I've got some pictures of one of the largest bucks I've been watching, but they were at over 500 yds with a 150 power digital zoom, the detail is quite poor at that distance. Still, there is enough to maybe come up with a rough score - and I'd like your opinions. I'm also curious of the deer's age if you'd like to give your thoughts on that as well. He is the dominate buck in a group of 7 we watched for most of July and part of August. The pictures attatched are from Aug 7, fully one month before shedding the velvet, so its possible a little more growth would occur. I last saw the buck sparring with anothe good buck (not quite as large) 2 weeks ago out of velvet - he was looking pretty impressive (no camera with me).
We've taken several bucks the last few years scoring around 120 B&C, to me this one seems a bit larger, please post your estimates. Hopefully one of our group will get this buck, and I'll share what we find out.
Again - I apologize for the fuzzy pics:
Thanks........

FH, I'd say by looking(yes it's a little hard to tell) I'd say he's defintiely in the 140's. How many points does he have? I couldn't tell for sure. If he has 10, he may push 150, but they always look alot bigger with the velvet on.
Whatever the score, nice buck that's for sure!!! Age....??????? I'd say he has to be 3.5 probably older. Where I hunt that buck would probably have to be 5.5 to have horns like that. But I think your place is set up pretty well, with all the nutrition, so it's possible to have that rack at 3.5.
Hey let us know what he scores when you get him

Nice FH,
Sort of hard to tell with any accuracy. Looks as though he is a big 8? If thats the case he sure has the mass to be in the 130-140 class B&C. He has good main beam lenght although his tine length doesn't look overly long. Guess the only way to really tell is to get a closeup via a broadhead or slug in your case . Good luck in your chase.
I sat up on one of my new rye plots last night and didn't see squat. Tracks all over it, but not when I was there from 2:30-7:00 PM. The wind was just right out of the north. I was kind of suprised not to see anything. It also may have had something to do with what I think was a bear going up through the woods turning over rocks for food.
Still spaarse activity on my cameras. About 13-15 pics per week. I was getting double or triple that before. Hope they come back from eating out.
