I would think brassicas would draw the most deer since deer don't start eating it until a couple of frosts hit it. I planted some a few years ago and they wore it out until it was gone. Most plants die after a few frosts, but this stuff will stay green at least through Dec. By then they ate it all.

I've got the answer now that I've gutted out the first deer of the season.
PLANT OAK TREES! The deer that we gutted was absolutely stuffed with acorns!
There were only a few traces of anything else at all.

I think deer target a lot of things in the fall depending on location. If there are acorns available, they will spend some time there. This goes for a lot of ag crops as well like corn, beans, etc. But I think that if you want a fall draw, plant winter wheat, Winter rye, or Buck Forage oats. It's green under the snow and greens up early in the spring.
The doe I shot last November was full of bright green rye. My food plot was the only bright green crop around at that time of the year.

Whatever is the tastiest and the closest. It could be apples, corn, soyabeans, or acorns. If it's plentiful and close they'll fill up.

I think its tough to beat apples - especially an old orchard setting.

Regardless of what else the deer are eating - they so often seem to stage in the overgrown apple orchards before dark - and before bedding down in the morning. Apples are ALWAYS a good snack, and the deer are comfortable in the cover they provide.

I like Rye for a fall plot - but usually hunt the apple areas 1st.

We havent had a hard frost here in south central Missouri yet, but the smaller trees in my persimmon grove are ripe, there are tracks all over the place under them, they have been eating anything they can reach, I think good ole corn during the fall is the best especially when the acorns have disappeared, this year the oaks are loaded with acorns, as soon as they run out, the corn is like gold! Also my Milo field is is a real hot spot during muzzleloader season.

I just pulled in my driveway at 7;04 pm Edst and 5 deer hitting my pile of corn behind the house, I saw it was depleting a little and thought maybe it was crows , but found out for sure tonight.....

The Farmer that owns the property where I hunt rotates corn and beans and I haven't found that the deer prefer either one. At dusk there has been an equil number of deer on both crops. I have noticed in earlyer years that a wheat feild near by holds more deer later in the season.
