CORN FAILURE

[:@]I planted a 1/2 ac. of a 70- day, round-up ready corn back in the end of June and there is not even one stalk as of today 8-25-05,due to the lack of rain. I also planted on 8-3-05, 1 ac. in clover from Agway, 1 Ac.ofBilogic Fallblend,& 1 ac. in rape, turnups from Agway. Not much growth.

I'm going to go back up state in about 3 weeks and was woundering what I could do with the corn plot since the ground was limed & fertilized. What would you do? Thanks

I would mix in some type of oats and winter wheat. both will be nice and green through all the cold months.

Good luck.

What state/province are you in -? End of June is too late for corn, almost anywhere.

Literally no corn grew? If that is right - then it could be a reall Ph problem, not just no rain.

Where I am - we had .4" or rain in May and 2-3" rain in June - and not much since - but our may-planted corn is 8 ft tall. It loves the heat - and 2"/month is enough. Lack of rain can hinder any plot - but corn usually does better than most, especially early on.

I helped Sniper in planting the corn, we are located in Susq. Co. Penna. We have not had anysignificient rain since July from what we hear. We planted clover and rapeabout a month ago and it is just breaking thruthe earth. Everthing is dry as a bone. The rape is about 2 inched high, you have get on your knees to see the clover but it is coming up everywherethat we planted it. I think we did everything right we just picked the wrong summer to plant.
