RE: Ph meter or soil test?

I tried a soil test kit put out by McKenzie seeds. It has 4 vials with indicators and you fill the soil solution to a set level and shake. When the colour develops you compare it to a chart. While not as precise as a lab test I was impressed with the results for general use and it only cost a couple of dollars. And based on the results with a pH of about 7.8 please don'ttell me to add lime. What else do you expect when the farm is on a limestone hill.
