Rape Planting Time ??

I've been trying to figure out the best time to plant Rape in Southern Mich.
The is the first time I've planted Rape.
My goal is to use this as a hunting food plot.
I've talked to a couple of the feed stores around here & have gotten different answers, so I'm a little confused

I've already planted one plot with rape in early June. It seems to be coming up pretty good & I can see that the deer are already feeding on it. I'm not sure what I'll have come hunting season ??

I've been told planting it this early should not be a problem, but have also been told I should of planted it in early Aug if I plan on using it as a hunting food plot.
I'm not sure if the reason to plant in Aug & not June is because the Rape will be to fiberous come hunting season or that the deer will graze it down before hunting season kicks in.

Can someone who has planted Rape for a hunting plot help me out with what you have found the most success with in regards to the Best Time to plant ??
Thanks
