speader installation
 

I was having trouble installing a 3-point spreader on the tractor; I purchased a used spreader that I think would handle 300 lbs of fertilizer. However, It seems that the place where you attach the spreader to the two arms of the tractor were too large to go inside the holes for the arms.

Can I grind down the two inserts on the spreader or should I try & sell back the spreader. Thanks Joe

do u have swivel brgs on the end of the arms on the tractor?

Sounds to me like you have a cat. 2 hitch pinson your spreader. You can get the right size pins at a farm supply store for a couple of bucks. Just replace them. If I remember right they come in 1/4" increments. Chances are you need 3/4 in for a cat 1 3pt. hitch

I know this is hard for me to describe but I'll give it a try.
The two points or rods on the spreader that would go thru the swing arms on the tractor are permanent If I was able to slip those rods thru the holes on the swing arm I would then be able to insert the codor pin on them rods.

I have been able to instal a brush hog and tiller without any real problems. [&o]

Hard to believe a company would have permanent lift pins on the spreader. Can you cut the pins out and install new ones the right size or either get different lift arms or put new ends on the lift arms that would fix the problem? I doubt that you will be able to grind the pins down very easily.

Brad told you the problem , you bought a spreader that was set up for a bigger tractor, you have cat 0- for lawn and garden all the way up to cat 3, that's what we have on the articulating tractors, Cat 1 is for Ford small JD up to about 80 hp, you can put smaller stuff on bigger tractors, just buy a sleeve to slide over the pins, in the reverse situation a replacement is about the only thing to do. These are things you have to watch out for when buying equipment....

I have a 32 HPtractor and I have seen this same sizespreader ona tractorlike mine. The implement's pins are too big to go inside of thelifter arms.

I think your tractor is plenty big enough to handle the spreader. Do you have the means to do any fabrication? I'd try to fab something up to make it work. And depending on whether or not you want to keep the original pins in place you would have several different options to make it work.

This is the same size as the speader that I have,
see that pin on the bottom right side, that wont fit into the tractor's arms. I was wondering if I would be able to grind them smaller? Thanks Joe

That is almost identical to my spreader, someone suggested that you might need to remove those pins and replace them with ones that fit, maybe you can grind enough off them to make them fit, that would be quite a task for a grinder to get them smooth enough to fit into your lift arms..the pins on that seeder look like Cat 1...

Hey 270 I think you could grind them down enough with no problem and I don't think it would be nessacary to have it completely smooth. You can remove some material pretty fast with a grinder and the right wheel.Get a fast cutting wheel and angle so as to use the tip of the blade and that will remove material faster and once you get close level your grinder out to smooth your ridges out some. I think you'll be fine w/ a 4'' grinder and a little patience. Good Luck

Cut 'em off and weld on the right ones or to do it right andcut 'em off and drill holes for the ones you need
