RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
Looks like something that would be discussed on desperate housewives. :D

RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
Having used limbsaver products on my bows for years and having recently put a limbsaver recoil pad on a muzzleloader,I have a lot of confidence in their products.I have spent considerable amounts of money on accurizing rifles (Trigger work A must)but what about having your barrel bedded and floated or the barrel crowned. Those items are more expensive then this new limbsaver product.I don't much care what it looks like if it improves the accuracy of a rifle measurably I would put it on.I have a browning A-Bolt with a boss attachment on it.It looks terrible, but it is extremely accurate. If this limbsaver product dampens the oscillation of the barrel it stands to reason that it should improve the accuracy of the gun.Is it necessary, depends upon the gun. I'm sure we all have a lot of stuff that is not necessary but contributes to our confidence in our weapons.

If it can get me a 1/2" closer group at 200 yds it's a keeper.....NOT!!![:'(]
What's a half inch in a hunting rifle. Rem 700 out of the box give sub 2" groups at 200 yards. With that kind of accuracy, why would you wish to relieve your wallet of cash which could be better spent on more ammo down range? Trigger work, glass bedding, free floating, crowning, all in my opinion, fishing lures for hunters. Last time I checked, there wasn't a big game or for that matter a most small game that couldn't be killed with that kind of groupings, provided the hunter did his job.;) |

Looks like it would work to me.
Looks like it would help reduce recoil also. The New LimbSaver® Barrel De-Resonator is designed to dampen out unwanted vibration by shortening the overall settling time of the barrel. The accuracy benefit is immediate, providing sub-minute angle groups with over-the-counter factory ammunition. This easy-to-install unit simply slips over most standard barrels. Designed and manufactured with our proprietary NAVCOM® (Noise and Vibration Control Material), and engineered for optimum performance utilizing Sims Vibration Laboratory’s DTMS (Decay Time Modification System). If you are looking for performance & accuracy, trust LimbSaver®, the makers of “Products That Work!” Heres the link to see it. http://www.limbsaver.com/limbsaver/f...rrelderes.aspx 100 yds · 280 Rem · 160 gr. I have one, you can call it ugly, you can call it a gimmick, you can call it anything you want. For those who bash without trying you are not as smart as you think you are...
It works took my Sako 7mm STW loaded with 160 gr Nosler Accubond from just over an inch to +/- half inch. Every group I shot had 2 bullets touching. It is simply awesome. For the $20 bucks it cost it was more than worth it!!:):):):):):):) |
RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
If I hear a few more good reviews like that Ill buy it. My gun groups within 2 or so inches with the best shooting ammo that I found that shot well through it. My gun is not wooden nor does it have a glass bed so it might help. I could see where it would help a wooden! Wood swells so bad!

RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
My Sako is Stainless Synthetic. I guess the way I look at it is you owe it to the animal you hunt to kill it as quick and humane as possible. So if you are grouping at 2" and shooting out to 300+ yards that is 6"+. If you could get that group to 1" or less why wouldn't you?? The would be a lot more dead animals than wounded ones. Can eat what you don't kill.

RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
Two inches is with bags not a rest that holds the gun that makes a little difference!
|
RE: Limb saver for rifle barrels
You are right it makes a difference. But 2" is 2" no matter how you slice it. Lot's of guy's shooting off bags are sub 1". If you think the bags might be the reason invest in a rest instead. I shoot off a rest and the Deresonator helped me. It just gives that much more confidence when shooting. Going either way should help your accuracy. Try it, it is only $20 bucks which is way cheaper than a rest. It will not make you a worse shot that is for sure.
