how much are you spending?

RE: how much are you spending?
I would say a good bow rig with top of the line accessories is gonna run ya around $1000 plus or minus some. Of course, that's not counting arrows and b-heads, a release and all the other goodies. Here's a pic of my '05 huntin' rig

i got a really good deal on mine. i got the bow and all the accessories bow, arrows, quivers, release, sights, and broadheads for 150 bucks. it was an older bow but the guy i got it from didn't use it that much and he's a real good friend so i'm happy. the other things i needed i already had. now i just need to get out and practice with it before bow season.

I dropped about $1100 on a new Hoyt setup last season. The bow it'self wasn't even half of that total. The rest of the money went into everything else.
My first bow cost me nothing as I got it for doing a favor. It wasn't anything nice but it shot straight and killed deer dead. The only problem was a 46" axle to axle length and it tipped the scales at over 7 1/2 pounds. Try using that in a tight tree stand.

Spent about 500 on a high-end bow about 7 years ago. That bow's killed gaggles of deer, and still counting. I will not buy another bow until something better comes along.
I'm hunting at 290 fps @ 76# one-cam. It shoots fine for hunting. I don't do the little bow contests and target stuff, so I have very little to gain by dropping a grand on a new setup that really wouldn't perform that much better anyway.
I have a harder time getting a good buck in bow range than I have at hitting the vitals at 25 yards.
IMO, too many guys are blowing too much money that they don't really have. They're wasting it on 2005 bows that don't really perform that much better than a similar 2000 model. It's all marketing, and I just don't see the need. I'd rather save the dough and spend it on other equipment/tags/lease.
