Request from Soldiers in Iraq
I rec'd this request from LT Russel. Let's see what we can do to show our support for these guys.
(he said new or used DVD's, it didn't matter) I am currently deployed with the Idaho National Guard in Iraq. I am trying to establish a hunting DVD library for the soldiers here. We are all a bunch of rednecks and wish we could be hunting, but we have already missed one season and we will miss the one this year. If we had DVDs that we could watch it might help. I know that I might be asking alot but I am looking for donations of videos for my deployed soldiers. This would mean alot to them to pass some of the time that we have here. We are also going to be having an Elk, Turkey, Goose and Duck calling contest. I am looking for some calls to be dontated or even prizes for the contestants. I would really appreciate any help that you would be willing to give us here in IRAQ. We are willing to take pictures of our Elk and duck Calling contests for your magazines or catalogs or website. LT Randall Russel Bravo Company 145th SPT BN 116th BCT (Forward) APO AE 09368 If you wish to email him, please pm or email me. [email protected] Thanks. |
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
what about vhs;s?
|
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Maybe you should pin this to the top. I can get him some copies of DVD's, but will be a few weeks. Just want to make sure I can find this again to send them to him.
|
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
I'll be more than happy to donate a couple of turkey calls that I no longer use . :)
Any chance that the Lt. and his guys have e-mail access so that we can corespnd with them too ? |
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Is that address the full mailing address? I've got both elk and turkey calls here that I'm not using any longer.
|
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
we have family medical problems right now so I'm short on time. But I know if someone would take the time to forward the requests for calls to a few of the manufacturers and probably even the DVD requests to folks that market them, they'd probably send one person a bunch of stuff from each company and then it could be forwarded on. Its not that much work and not difficult. The companies were always responsive for jr 4H type programs and will be for our military.
Someone take the time please PS I bet they have no access to VHS. Bet they can play the dvd on any laptop of which there are many Jeff |
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
I sent another email to LT Russell asking him about vhs tapes and the mailing address.
I don't want to sound to needy and don't want people to have to spend a lot of money but if we had another VHS machine we could sign it out and let soldiers that it back to their rooms and watch movies. The only VHS we have right now is at a Company Headquarters but I still have people that come and watch the videos we have already received. Thanks for your support. As for mailing yes it does go to the APO account. If you send it air it gets here in about 10 days snail mail takes about 30. Thanks again. LT Randall K. Russell Bravo Company 145TH SPT BN 116TH BCT (Forward) APO AE 09368 So, go ahead and send VHS tapes. I've got a used VHS player I'll send to them. Thanks for the interest everybody.. You guys/gals are the best! Christine A. |

RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
How much time will you do if you quit?
|
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Politics isn't my cup of tea, per se`.
Supporting our troops wherever they may beand for however long they may be there, is. My governments decisions are beyond my field of influence as I suspect your's is. The best I can do is to offer them my support for the time that they are there. I am a retired soldier and I know what a few magazines and videos can do for the morale of the troops, Yours as well as mine. |
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Hey Everyone, this is a great idea, and I want to thank everyone who has participated already, and those of you who have expressed your support. I am currently deployed to Iraq also, and I never even thought of something like this...I have 4 months left, and looking forward to coming home. Iwill miss this year's deer season, but at leastI was able to hunt last year with my 2 brothers and a couple other guys.

His e-mail address is [email protected] I am very proud of my son and would greatly appreciate anything any of you could do to help out. Charlie.

RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Charlie,
I'll send some out early next month to your son and his fellow soldiers. I too know what a few things from home can do for moral, and that should be the focus of our support right now! -WW |
RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
I just got back from Iraq a month ago and let me thank you all for your support of the troops. Means so much to get something from the folks back home and even more so when the person who sent it to you is a complete stranger. I know I missed a whole hunting season and half of this one, so I can feel for the guys that are there right now.

RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Howdy fellow sportsmen! Is it too late to get in on this? I am a maintenance supervisor with the 101st Airborne Division on my second tour over here in Iraq. I have over a hundred mechanics who would love some of this stuff. It seems like we have a large number of sportsmen in the platoon who would love to get some of this stuff. Anything is welcome to include fishing and fly fishing stuff along with the hunting dvds. We have a couple of guys (including myself) who get field and stream and a couple of the other mainstream magazines but dvds and such would be great! It is great to see the outpouring of support when there is so much troubling talk in the media. My address is:
Chad Vandenbos HSC 563rd SPT BN (AVN) APO AE 09391 If it is already too late, I thank you all for your previous gifts to all of us servicemembers. I dont think you could understand how meaningful those gifts are. |

RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
Active duty Marine here who spent time over there much earlier than now. At the time I was there, if youconducted a contest involving noise, you would be on the next plane home. Times are different in certain areas now. Please let me say how grateful those Marines andSoldiersare ingetting things like this. I can't tell you how many children letters that I have read from all around the country. I received gift packages of candy, cards, you name it. Early on in the war, some big news agency reported that baby wipes were in very short supply and at the top of our list for needs. A month later there were pallets of them everywhere from the American public. There was one German immigrant I rememberfrom Chicago who mailed us abunch of beef jerky that took him four days to make. He told us in a letter that he was very proud of us and looked forward to becoming a citizen someday. What our enemies don't know about us is that our soul runs very deep in this country. I was not around during Vietnam, but I have never had anyone accuse me of wrong doing sinceI have been back. There arethoseout there who are very vocal about being aginst this war, but it seems that they are taking that out on the government and not on us in any way. I myself believe in the cause at hand, but that has absoulutely no bearing on what anyone outside of myself should think. For all those who helped in any I want to extend a sincere thank you from the troops. Your thoughts and subsequest actions really made a difference in their lives in a way that you probably will never really fully know.

RE: Request from Soldiers in Iraq
I have some videos I could send. However, I have a cousin in Iraq already, and when I mail him ANYTHING I have to put a particular return address on it. I am just wondering if that is the case here. Please get back to me I would love to help.
