How Much Land ?

RE: How Much Land ?
My brother in law and I have 160 acres leased with another 200 we could hunt adjacent to us owned by some friends. It's sandwiched between a wildlife refuge and private land that is never hunted. Besides that my family has 6 and 20 acre tracts that we don't hunt.
My brother in law has 80 acres on the other side of the county with another 80 he could hunt.

My last two deer have been taken off a 5 acre plot I own, just down the road from where I live. I've got 40 acres about 35 miles north of here that is bordered on 3 sides by national forest, and I've been busy making small areas of that 40 very attractive to big game by thinning and letting the grasses establish themselves. I'll probably start hunting it in a couple of years.
I elk hunt on public land (national forest).

wow, seams like everyone has some nice hunting land. I have 70 acres of land in Schuyler County IL. its plenty for me and my dad. 50% food crops/plots and 50% timber. Surrounding land is all leased by out of state hunters which is great because they are only in for 1 or 2 weeks and only shoot 1 deer per person.

I have 48 acres in upstate NY,
that borders 2000 acres of secluded state land,
even many of the locals dont know about the state land that borders my property,
in 3 yrs i have seen 1 person on that land and that was a snowmobiler passing through

About 10000 acres of Private land. Some of it is mine and the rest is owned by a the guy who borders me. More than enough. There is much more privete land That I can also hunt if I have doe tags.

I hunt on about 80 acres of private land. Theres i think 8 of us so the deer are pretty pressured. and across the street from that is public land, but i dont hunt that. with all the hunters on the public land the deer are often pushed onto our land. I saw 11 does on my first two days out hunting. bagged one at around 200 some yards. small deer, looked like a monster standing back there on the hill though. oh well, still tastes good
besides that, there are plenty of other public hunting grounds around here. one of my friends bagged an 8 pointer on public land. i have yet to do that though.

RE: How Much Land ?
my brother and i hunt about 700 acres of family farm ground (grandparents have a farm) cousins sometimes hunt out here too. but i would like to hunt more because the neighbors line up along our fenceline and wait for the deer to hop over onto their land (or shoot them on our side) last year (2004) i thought there were only 2 guys on the other side of the creek. WRONG there were five guys spaced about every 150-200 yards on our fenceline. but on the bright side they pushed all the deer over to my brother and he got his first deer (a doe) at sunrise. so i guess i would rather have less land to hunt with no one around than more land to hunt in a warzone!
