Question
This past hunting season i shot a four pointer and one side of the rack was a nice looking 3, and the other was a spike. Could you guys explain this if you know what it is?

RE: Question
Probably an injury but possibly bad genetics. There is a possibility that the deer could have been injusred on the opposite side of his body from the spike. Sometimes that will cause a deformed or odd rack.

RE: Question
Could be a genetic antler defect that you helped to end by culling the deer. In all probably the abnormality was due to an injury when the deer was in velvet. Last year I got a 4x1 but mine was the result of a fight or a bullet breaking off the main beam about 2 inches from the head.

RE: Question
I'm thinking bad genetics b/c the day before i shot my buck my uncle on the same property shot a six pointer like that. The one side was a massive 4 point and the other two odd looking spikes.

RE: Question
The only that I could think of was maulnutrition. Dont know if that would cause it or not.

RE: Question
I killed three in the same foodplot with the left side a spike and the other having a normal rack. I guess it was genetics. Havn't seen another one since.
