BIG-Necked Bucks
Anybody have some pictures of BIG-NECKED rutting bucks? The biggest I've seen here in Kansas is a 27" neck, unfortunetaly I don't have a picture of him. Here are a couple pictures of some rutting bucks.
I hit this one with my truck, unfortunately I didn't get to measure the neck though, but I'm guessing about 23-24" ![]() And here is my girlfriends buck from this past season with a 24 1/2" neck. |

RE: BIG-Necked Bucks
This is a buck my brother-in-law killed this past season in the mountains of Maryland. Not nearly as big as the other bucks on this site, but it's very nice for the area we hunt. You can see that his neck was about as swelled as it could get.

Congrats to all of ya.... some fine trophies displayed, that's for sure! Here's another buck I shot many years ago with the 12 gauge. I "aged" the photo so as not to display the blood around the mouth. He dressed 254# and had a huge neck that everyone was commenting about at the time.

RE: BIG-Necked Bucks
Here's my buck from this year (first bow buck!). Weighed 270 lbs live weight, 25 or 26 behind the ears and I think it measured 35 at the base. (First pic is from the next day and he was field dressed so he looks a little thin)

RE: BIG-Necked Bucks
that happened to my buck too when I got my mount back:( he acually had a 16in neck but now the mount has a 14in neck.
|
RE: BIG-Necked Bucks
I have a friend that's a taxidermist and he said that the mounts are usually a little smaller because of a bit of shrinkage during the tanning process....usually about 1" around the neck I think. I'll just have to be sure to shoot one with a hulking neck next time that there won't be any mount shrinkage! LOL
