Landowner liability waiver - hunting permission??

Does anyone know where I can get a contract or form which waives a landowner’s liability in the event of an accident on his or her property?

This would be a contract or form voluntarily signed by both the landowner and the hunters which have been given permission to hunt on the landowners property.

link to a page is great or you can email it to:

Thanks for your help

If I leased even one acre to someone for hunting, I would require hunters insurance. Not sure if you could have a simple waiver that would protect you if the right circumstance and right lawyer got involved.

Timbercruiser,

The next question then is where do we get Hunters Insurance?

It does not seem like something my Home or Auto Insurance guy is going to sell.

Thanks.

In Connecticut you needed written permission to hunt someones land. They provide a little card for the land owner to sign which waives all their liability. BUT, if they CHARGE you to hunt their land they are now responsible for you.

Toby I emailed you what I use, it is a two part permission/waiver slip, you sign the waiver and they sign the permission. It has gotten me permission to hunt on a lot of places others can't. Keep us posted.

Heres a link to the one provided by the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (in PDF format).

http://www.ofah.org/Acrobat/Forms/20...OwnersForm.pdf

It requires the sportsman to sign beside a statement that holds the landowner blameless but I'm not sure if thats legally binding where you are.

Buckmasters has a hunters insurance program available. If you lease some of the major timber companies lands you can often add the acerage to your lease for a nominal fee. Check the back pages of some of the hunting magazines for ads.

Swampdog I sent him what I use, it includes the following statement which I sign:

"I Martin Price release the owner of the aforementioned property from any responsibility for any injury to myself, or damage to my property. I also accept full responsibility for any accidental damage that I may incur upon the aforementioned property."

I have landowners compliment me for not only being willing to release them from any liabilities, but I also accept liability for any damage I may cause.
