A number of Kings pictures are cropped on real animal by using high ranking whitetails/mule deer/elk that have been harvested by hunters. In our elk cabin we have many featuring Jordan Buck, Hansen buck, Mag. Seven, etc....it is kind of neat to see what these amazing animals may have looked like on the hoof but they are for the most part anything but REAL!

Looks fake to me. Antlers look like they have an unnatural light source reflecting off them. Subtle, yet noticable.

It looks fake to me. The light is hitting the left (my left) side of the deers face but appears to be coming from the right on the antlers. The left antler is bright on the inside and the right antler is darker on the inside. Could be real but my guess is fake!

I can't tell if it's a fake or not. If it is real, I hope I can take it one day. If it is fake....well, we all can dream.

I was going to say the same thing. Looks like studio lighting to me. Of course I'm no expert so it's probably authenic.

RE: fake pictures

Very possible it could be real. Some natural light combined with a flash could easily make the different lighting on the deer possible. I vote real, but possibly in a breeding pen.

This is a Kings photo from Kings Calendars, it is created(transposed) from record book mounts/antlers and real animal shots. They do nice work and I quite enjoy the calendars/wallpaper.

Fake

Antlers don't look right. Shadows and lighting are off.

Plus, if that deer was in front of my camera...and was real...he'd be dead.

I have seen the pictures of the mounts put on a deer's body to see the monster on foot. It is a great picture none the less.

I'd have to say it's a photshop special too. The buck's left side (the right side as you're looking at it) looks fake in front of that dark tree...

It's a real deer rack, but cropped into that scenery on that deer. I forget the name of that racked buck, but I've seen pictures of it before.

RE: fake pictures

Yes it is fake but like a few others have stated, it's from the King's collection where they tranpose real antlers onto a body so that you can "see" what these incredible deer might have looked like on the hoof.

For those of you that want to know, it's the Harold Smith Buck. I read an article in North American Whitetail about this deer and how there was a controversy about it whether or not it is a whitetail, mulie, or hybrid and it hasn't been determined b/c there were photos of the deer after it had been shot. If you saw pics from a side view, you'd be able to understand why it looks like a mulie (and the short brows too). Here's a link:

To me it looks like a diorama in a Natural History Museum, painted backdrop, unnatural lighting. I can't tell if the antlers belong on that body though.
