Shed Hunting Adventure

I started into the woods below my apartment today to look for shed antlers. It is a relatively large block (15 acres) of undeveloped land in the outskirts of the city. I knew there were deer on the property. I saw some rubs and a few does during season. Too bad I can't get in there to hunt it!

I walked across a very busy road and into the woods. I went about 125 yards in and saw a trail, checked it out and saw some tracks. Then I heard some brush breaking, and there he was; a good sized deer making his way out of his bedroom. And, he still had his rack with him. I thought I had waited long enough, but he still has his headgear. I'll try again later in the year. I backed out of the area as I didn't want to push him. Looked like he was an eight pointer with about a 20" inside spread. And, some of his tines looked to be broken; there may be a bigger deer in the neighborhood.
