I had a guy try to tell me that he was hunting his own land...Actually he was on mine. He had a young boy with him, which probably helped his case with me. I just informed him that teaching a youngster to tresspass is real classy and asked him to get permission from the owner, which happens to be me, before hunting here again.

Would have taken testis the size of coconuts for him to ask...LOL

We pretty much don't "run" people off as we don't live on our hunting land, and they would probably burn our cabin down if we were jerks. It has only been a problem a couple times in 30+ years, so it is apparently working.

i have ran into a poacher about 2-3 years ago i was lookin for sheds and there was a herd of deer in a field about 100 yards from me they saw me and after 3 minutes went back to eatin not mindin me. so im standin there lookin at the deer not making noise or movin and then they all bolt. im thinkin what the hay and 3 more deer run by. then i see some movement and about 80-90 yards away some dude walkin/joggin with a scoped rifle in his hand. (i live in ohio and its illegal to hunt with rifles) first thing comes to my mind its not deer season and he has a rifle. and stupid me bein about 12 i think. i yell at him and then he ducks and hides. and i run back to my house tell my parents and the people there. and no one beleives me. i was pissed. and the second time my dad shot a deer while we were huntin and in ohio u have the LEGAL RIGHT to go on someones property and get the wounded/dead animal. the guy comes out in a car my dad tells me to stand about 100 yards away and cap him if he pulls on him. (we/everyone has problems with him) he gets in his back seat grabs somehtin wraps it in a shirt then goes to the trunk grabs somethin as he gets closer he has a pistol in one hand and shotgun or rifle. in the other they start arguin and then the guy uncovers the shotgun/rifle and at this time hee sees me with my shotgun already pulled on him and my dad sees this and my dad goes loose on him and the guy runs before my dad hits him or i shoot him. and we leave call the cops and they talk to him. later that night about midnight i wake up to are alarm going off my dad runnin down the steps and shootin at someone breakin in to our house. and thats that. never killed him and dont know who it was or if my dad hit him. but i and everyone else thinks it was the fat dick head farmer that pulled on me and my dad. and early in the week we or i should say i found 5 deer bodies cover in snow drifts while deer huntin by tripping in the open rib cage and falling face first. ends up 5 deer with antlers and tenderloins gon and every thing else there. 2 or 3 by a creeck and 3 more about 50 yards up the tree line

I sure have. Its never been a good experience. The problem is that the people that you want to keep off, don't care if its posted or not. I currently have a guy fighting a poaching on posted property charge.(to my knowledge, while attempting his second deer from my property) I expect he'll get off. The reason being is that the signs have faded somewhat since hunting season ended and he's claiming he has photos of signs(s) that don't have dates. At this time, that may be true since we don't maintain the signs after hunting season is over. It was posted every 50ft with fresh signs w/ dates right before hunting season, so I know they were in good shape when he tresspassed. Ironically, I don't even think his photo(s) are from the area where he crossed into the property. I think he just walked the property line until he found one that was questionable. Just another dishonest hunter that's messing it up for everyone else.

Every other person I caught was "I didn't see the signs" and when you follow their tracks back , they go right up under a sign where there is no possible way it could have been missed.

There seems to be a good number of folks that really don't care.

I got the word today the A-hole plead out to criminal tresspassing .
30 days work release jail time $ 1000 fine + court cost and $500 resatution to me .
5 Years probation.

I am asking for a perminate restraining order to keep him off my place ( will cause him to lose his guns)

I think there is more to the pleebargin ,it happened to fast .
My guess he had something else to bargin with that they are not telling me

Good, it may not have been exactly what you wanted, but at least he got something for it.

I've been thinking about the restraining order too. Can you get one of those for tresspass? I'd be interested in hearing how that plays out.
