CWD found on Game Farm a few miles from here

a 19 month old buck that died of respitory problems tested positve CWD on a game farm a few miles from here. The guy has a herd of 40 deer in Eastman, Wisconsin. Just another reason im against high fence places...

I'm not trying to bust your chops, but could you explain why CWD in a high fence farm is an argument against the farms? I despise the thought of a fenced hunt, but I don't understand how the fence has an impact on the deer getting CWD. If anything it seems that this would be the best place to have the disease since the deer would have less range to spread it. I'm not very knowledgable about CWD, so any information you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Because alot of these farms have had problems keeping the areas fenced. In this area now, we have a huge problem with Russain Boars because game farms released them or didn't keep the fence in good condition. CWD was probably brought into this state because of those 500 acre "game farms" we have here. go and pick out a buck and shoot him for $15k. It's one of the biggest reasons im so against high fence operations.

1865 check this site out , you'll become a cwd expert, some of the most interesting articles are about baiting and feeding, so game farms feed their animals, like cattle farmers feed thier cows and they get madcow disease, those animals are in close proximity to each other and the disease is contaigous, i don't know how things would be different in the wild, but i'd be willing to bet that the farm that slayer's talking about has to detroy the rest of their animals.

Checkout this link about where CWD came from in Wisconsin. http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/post.asp?do=reply&messageID=924020&toStyle=tm

I got some more insider news, not off the gossip mill, but some good, solid information. The owner of the pen's son works at universal forestry products and my uncle is his supervisor. he siad they're going to slaughter all the deer. the buck was born in the pen, so he probably is not hte only one with CWD. the deer have been known to make nose to nose contact with deer outside the pen..so that means CWD could be possibly in this county, and this farm is maybe 7 or 8 miles from our house. if this thing has gotten out of the 20 acre pen, looks like Crawford County could be in the CWD hot zone[:@]
