skewered....
This was a new one on me: Saw a buddy at the club, first time I've seen him since the season. Asked how he did. He held out his hand and showed me a puncture wound that entered his palm below the thumb and exited on top of his hand, just to the left of the base of his thumb. His buddy shot a buck, which came to him and dropped. He walked up to it, thought it dead, and reached down to the rack. The buck whipped it's head up and skewered his hand with a brow tine. This was 0730. He let it bleed out some, dressed it, and hunted until 1500!

Hope his hand is OK Bet he checks to see if the next deer he shoots is dead or just waiting to get him. I touch the deers eye with the muzzel or a stick to be sure . |
RE: skewered....

RE: skewered....
I will most always lightly poke them in the eye to confirm death. I almost learned a hard lesson in my green horn years.
