When to start Shed Hunting?

Hey Guys, I am in Virginia. When is a good time to start shed hunting? Have the bucks already dropped the antlers or is that still to happen? I am going to take my 8 year old son out to look, but I don't know when to start.

Hey Mike, I'm also from Virginia and travel the roads quite a bit for my job. I saw a dead spike that still had antlers and an unknown dead deer that had already lost it's rack. I plan to start shed hunting in about two weeks.
