Don't quit!! The people you see in books are good ,it takes time .Look for standing corn,Fence rows or just deer runs . Most people look to early ,Here in northwest PA last year the deer we watch every night lost thier horns in the first week of march. This year the small 4point bucks are looseing them now.If you start early you well find nothing . I will post pics later.

Look in Thickets with apple trees. I've found them right up in the branches before - but usually in with dead branches on the ground.

Figure out where the deer are late winter early spring and hunt for sheds like you were hunting the deer itself.
Feeding areas, bedding areas and trails in between are a great place to look.
Here's the sheds I found last season.

Found first one today but still too early. I saw 7-8 bucks today, one was a half rack, one lost both and the other five still had both. Mid feb thru end of march.

Impressive pile of sheds. Are you out there looking even when there is a lot of snow on the ground. Would you wait until the first snow melt? Looking for sheds sounds like something i might want to try. I never gone out looking for them and it give me a good exuse to be out in the woods.
