Newbie needs help w/scent
 

Someone suggested I use Code Blue Estrous Urine Gel as an attractant (no, he wasn't selling it). He said I could use it any time during the season, and that I could expect great results from the first day of bow season, until the last day of rifle season. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Let me take this question one or two steps further. What scents should you use in the early season, rut, and post-rut? Is there really one scent for the entire season (ie. Code Blue Estrous Urine Gel), or should I use different things for different times of the season?

You answered your own question! There are several different attractants, each with it's own purpose. You will need to adjust for estrous cycles etc. Do some research on the code blue website. They'll give ya all the info you need to make an informed decision.

As far as Code Blue, it's about the same as all the rest. They can work given the right circumstances. I myself tend to stay away from attractants. Never had much luck with any of them, maybe I'm doing something wrong!!!!

Cover scents are a different story. I do use cover scents. I've tried several store bought brands in the past but this year I'm trying some homemade recipes I found right here on the Deerhunting Forum!
