RE: Field Dressing

I reach into the chest cavity with my left hand and hold the throat. With my right, I hold cup my blade in my fingers, w/blade facing away and index finger over the tip, till I get my right hand where I want my blade to be. Then just shift the knife in your hand and do your cutting.

deerdust, if you don't mind I have a minor technical question.

When I reply to somebody down the thread in the topic, like I just did to you, it replies to the thread starter, not the guy I clicked "reply" on. Unless I hit "quote", then it works. Yet I see people reply directly to me and others even when we're not the thread starters. Can you tell me how to reply to you?

I know I should put this in "Technical", but I don't get answers down there.

Edit . . . . again, I hit the "reply" to you, and it went to DUCKSTAMPEDE.

If you're way back in there and have to carry it out, just take the meat. Work from the back, instead of the front. Get all the meat out and never open the diaphram or chest cavity. A treatsie on how to do a bison or moose would give you a good idea of how to do it. The only usable stuff you lose is the horns and the hide.

Slamfire ,Here in Ohio ,the whole deer in 1 peice( gutting is ok) must be taken to a check station.
So check your states regulation before trying that .

jones123, through a little trial and error on my own part, the answer to you question is this:
if you hit this reply button, it will reply to the last person to post >>>>

If you hit the reply button contained within a users post it will reply to the thread starter.

Unless I hit "quote", then it works.

If you want to reply to someone, hit the "QUOTE" button, then just, left click-highlight any text you do not specifically want in your post-then right click-and cut. Then give your reply or comment to the post/quote.
