need help of homebrew camera guys

My father and I are attempting to make 2 homebrews. We have good sensors and good cameras. I just went out and bought a project box at radio shack with dimensions 8x6x3. Is this too big? What should I use to seal it really well.

Thanks

Jim

A friend of mine bought a few of those small military surplus ammo boxes to put his cameras in. Seem to work well and they are cheap. He put the stuff in place and either uses spray foam or packing foam to secure it.

Must of the homebrewers like myself are now using pelican or seahorse cases. These are the same cases the higher dollar commercial game cams use. They can be bought for $14-20 dollars, are lockable as well as waterproof.

However lots of other enclosures have been used.I have never used the rs boxes but my 1st cams built several years ago were put into a 6x6x4 pvc elctrical junction box available at lowes, homedepot, etc. This box comes with a gasket built into the removable lid and is very waterproof.

I suspect your rs box will be difficult to use as an enclosure for the entire setup because it would need to be sealed for waterproofness yet still be able to open it to check your cam.I suppose you could try and make a gasket that would fit inside the lid but you would still have to contend with the 4 access screws.

I would get the elec box or round up one of the above mentioned cases. Here is a link to my webshots site you can see a few camera examples there.
