Dented Ammo
I bought a box of Remington Core-Lokt ammo in 30-30 win. today. I noticed one of the shells has a sizable dent right on the sholder. Wal-Mart has a no ammo return policy. What should I do? Call Remington? I know it's not that big of a deal, but at $10 a box....

RE: Dented Ammo
They must have used too much case lube and dented the shoulder. i had a shell like that for mt 223 it was a smal dent but noticeable. I shot it and now it looks fine.
Why work when you can hunt???? Heck why work at all!! |

RE: Dented Ammo
I'd agree with Tree climer,
set the shell aside & contact Remington, much cheaper than an injury. Some of the other that have responded, that talk about fireforming and oil/lube denting. Have a point, if you have a modern bolt action gun and your reloading. But if you have a factory cartridge and shooting a lever action gun (most 30-30s are). You have 2 factors working against you. 1. With factory ammo you don't know what the pressure maybe. 2. Lever action guns have a relativly weak lock up, & action. There are a couple of good ways to dispose of a live cartridge, 1. Have someone that reloads pull the bullet out, then the powder can be dumped out. 2. Soak the cartridge in oil. Good Luck |

it will shoot fine!

RE: Dented Ammo
Flathead contact Remington, years ago my cousin had a shotgun shell misfire, he contacted them and got a free box of shells and a nice note of apology from them.

Nevermind I found it. They didn't make it easy to find though.

RE: Dented Ammo
Lube dent, shoot it as long as it chambers it will be fine. My
22-250 only shoots good at the top of the pressure range in the books and I have shot a bunch of lube dented shells through it when praire dog hunting. If everyone starts asking for free shells for something as simple as a lube dent that 10 dollars a box price will look cheap!! RE: Dented Ammo
A dented shoulder is nothing to be scared about. I see them and i shoot them and i knew it was safe before i shot it. I did not die so it will be fine like other have said.

RE: Dented Ammo
Just shoot it. The dent will magically disappear.

RE: Dented Ammo
They said that it will shoot fine in any new rifle. They also apoligized for any inconvience. They said if I ever have the problem again let them know. And No, I did not ask for a free thing of ammo, But most companies will do it anyway. And Yes, I am cheap. And proud of it.
