great job--whether that deer ends up as a trophy on the wall or not--is not the point--the world would be a worse place with a beautiful animal like that dying that way.
on another note, this is the quote from the beginning of the article------------Minnesota Conservation Officer Dale Ebel is a deer hunter, but he just couldn't stand to see such a magnificent animal go out this way--------to me that makes it sound like hunters generally want animals to die no matter what, which IMHO is a common mispeception by those that don't hunt or know what its all about. I wish the non-hunting public would realize that, in general, no one loves the animals more than the one who hunts them--just my opinion
