These are really pretty good stands if you don't have to carry them everywhere. They are cheap, big and solid if you put it up right.
Those are the aluminum arms off the security lights REMC puts up. When they replace a light it always comes with an arm and they don't have any use for the old ones.
If you look at the picture of that one on the ice you can see the way to use them. It took a while looking at those arms and just knowing they would make some kind of good stand to get that idea, LOL. They don't turn and make a 90 degree angle.
If you chain it to the tree and then let the platform down the "V" notch the angles make push the back out and cam it tight agains the tree.
All you've got invested is chain for the tree connection plywood for platform and seat and chain or cable to hook the platform to the seat/post part. That can be made adjustable for angled trees.

Had the same problem here in Ohio. Had to go to using a climber. I even have IDIOTS that don't have hunting permission ( because i don't give any ) putting Posted signs on MY land, so no one else will try to hunt it!
