I Got My Buck Scored
 

This past November I killed my all-time biggest buck. I took him to the taxidermist and found out that I should get my deer head back in 3 more weeks. Now for the score: 138" Man, I was hoping it was going to be in the 140 range or better. Anyway, I think I'm going to take it to the Dixie Deer Classic in Raleigh in March to get an official score there.

Man those are both great deer. I wouldn't be too upset about 138" instead of 140".

Dang, looking at him I would have guessed better than 138. Must be some deductions there that don't show in the picture. Nice buck.

The general rule for scoring a deer alive is for it to be a 150 it almost always should have at least 10 points with most tine lenghts over 6 inchs +. a spread of 18 inches. 22 inch main beams with the mass measurements statring out at the base of at least 4 inches. plus mass meas.
Add 2 more points on your buck with 6 inch tines and you have 150.
But your buck is a beauty.

Nice buck Cloud - and don't get too caught up in the score. Every one you take is trophy in one way or another --- just enjoy the experience. :)

Yeah, that was a neck shot. He was about 200 yards and turned to his left and started quartering toward me following a doe. I didn't want him to get too close and get wind of me so I took the shot head on.
